Vasu Chanchlani is vice-chair of the Karma Candy board. Vasu brings a breadth and depth of experience and expertise as a respected world investor and founder of a wide variety of successful businesses around the globe.

Vasu is also the co-founder of Sigma Group of companies. His ongoing responsibilities at Sigma includes financial management, corporate policy formulation, and overall guidance of the operations of Sigma Group of Companies. The group is a Canadian success story in the IT industry and has invited strategic investments from leading venture capitalists and investment banks of Canada and USA. A number of companies in the group have been successfully sold, acquired or merged.

Prior to establishing Sigma, Vasu held a series of senior roles in some of the largest companies in the telecommunications and consulting organizations. Vasu began his technology career as a systems analyst at Tata Consultancy Services India with various assignments in USA and England. He also held Senior Management positions with Nortel.

Over the past few years, Vasu Chanchlani has been busy diversifying his investments and investing heavily in India in areas where he believes India will offer strategic advantage to global Corporations. His current areas of investments are in the Hospitality Industry, Clinical Trials and Health Care Industry, Education as well as the Automotive Parts Industry.

He was a recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year - Finalist Award for 2001 and the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce Technology Achievement Award for 2002.

He holds a masters degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology - Kanpur as well as an MBA from the University of Toronto.

Vasu Chanchlani is a founding member of the Canada India Foundation and the principal donor to the Award Fund which helped create the "CIF Chanchlani Global Indian Award". This award will be presented annually to a recipient who has demonstrated global leadership, vision, and professional excellence, which has made all of us of Indian origin extremely proud of our heritage.
